The mornings practice session was relatively uneventful. The only major losses being the Weston Performance guys having various unfortunate problems with the S13, a fire eventually put them out of the running; and Bon Bon's chaser having problems very early on, meaning he never made it on track. That did however free him up to Judge the event and I suspect he also had a positive influence on the female presenter of the event, who clearly would have had no idea what was going on without assistance.
Evening came and the crowds gathered. A far larger crowd than I'd expected given that it was the same night as an England match, a credit to Niall's intense advertising of the event. Next followed a practice session on the larger track where the main event would be held. Jay Walkers white AE86 which had been going all day was still showing good form with Jay behind the wheel, demonstrating how both car and driver were well up to the job in hand. With everyone in place the show kicked off with a random display of drifting and stunt bikes, eventually leading to the introduction of the drivers whilst they showed skill drifting in tight circles around the rather cold looking promo girls! I bet that was a real chore!

After a short break the rounds started. Phil Morrison driving James' R32 first drew up against Mark 'Sweeps' Buckle in the DCY R32. However poor lighting conditions led to a wrong judgement, and after 2 runs Phil took the win. Let me assure you though, the lighting really was terrible, as I'm sure

the photgraphs demonstrate, and I really felt for those in charge of making the quick decisions required. It couldn't have been easy. After Mark, Phil drew up against Mike Murphy. This time the win was more convincing, with a spin by Mike in the second run sealing the deal.
