Well, Here we go for another year of excellent D1 action. But before you can compete in the D1GB series, you have to Prove your skills and gain your D1 Licence, and this year the licensing was held at Donington Park during the now famous Donnyshow! Throughout the weekend drivers displayed their skills around a small but demanding series of bends, in the hope that the famous japanese drifter and event judge 'Yasuyuki Kazama', would grant them thier D1 licence.

Drifters flocked from all parts of the country to show the crowd that they have what it takes to compete with the finest drifters in the UK. The cars ranged from self financed drift classics, to the very latest in drift weaponry, complete with a host of sponsors. The freshest on the scene was SVA Imports 350Z, driven by Jason Davis & Steve Dunn. It didn't perform too well during the event, but the car is no doubt going through constant development, with a reported 600bhp on the horizon.

Much more competitive on the day was the Sumo Power 350Z, catching some serious sideways action which earned Tim Marshal his Licence, and the respect of the crowd. Very consistent all through the event, and convincingly earning a licence of his own was Scott Armstrong in his Datsun Stanza. Repeatedly drifting with style, and showing us he's a force to be reckoned with!
